Abseiling

In the Australian Army Cadets, you get the opportunity to participate in abseiling and roping activities as either standalone or obstacle courses. Cadets are taught how to appropriately wear and use safety gear such as gloves, harness and helmets. Harness are attached to a rope fixed above to a secure anchor, and in some occasions when working in pairs, is also anchored below.
The cadet then can then use the skills they have learnt to lower themselves down under a controlled decent. Abseiling and roping presents a physical challenge to cadets. Upon reaching the bottom, the participant may have to lift themselves back up to the top using climbing techniques.
